Starting Day 0.8

Well, I think we need to be back at the story now.

 " Joshua! What the heck are we gonna do about them?" I screamed, pointing to the barricade of enemy cars ahead of us.

 " Just hang on Emerald. " he grinned. A grin I knew too well.

 " Don't you dare-" I got interrupted by the scream that got ripped out of my throat as we went into the woods. Then we hit road again and stopped. There was another car.

" What do we do?!" shouted the kid from the other car." They've got all the roads out of town blocked!"

  " Just follow me!" Joshua said, still grinning that dangerous grin. Oh god. Not that way. Please. Anything ...Well, on second thought, it's better than dying at the minute.

  Joshua took off with the other car right behind him. I closed my eyes. But then decided that wasn't the best idea. I opened my eyes and saw that we were heading for our secret exit. Yes, we had a secret exit. Easy way to get out of town. If you were a skilled driver or knew the road very well.

Starting Day 0.7

   Everyone looked up and Joshua started to swear. Then, as if a light bulb lighted up in his head, his face brightened and ran to his house, which was right across the street from mine. Taylor and Kaitlyn were still looking up, so I stayed with them. All the sudden, Joshua's garage opens up with his Dad's car backing up at like, 50 miles per hour.

  " Get in!" he shouted and we easily complied as the people who were coming down with parachutes started to shoot us.

   Then Joshua gunned it and we raced down the street, heading out of town. We hit several of the guys who were coming down with the parachutes.  The first time that happened, Taylor and Kaitlyn both screamed, while I gasped. Then the body went under the car. But I had recognized that face. Well the face features. These weren't Arabic terrorists. That was a definite.

 Since the middle part of the drive was rather boring, just hitting people and swerving around the enemies' vehicles, and avoiding fires, I should probably tell you more about ourselves.

 Kaitlyn is 15, Taylor is 14, Joshua is 15 and was gonna turn 16 this weekend. I'm 14, the youngest of the bunch, because I was a May baby. Taylor is a March.  Yup. It kinda sucked being the youngest, but hey, what the heck?

 And no. It was not legal for Joshua to be driving. But I think the police are a bit too busy for that.

Starting Day 0.6

  " And I'm guessing the baton is for me?" inquired Kaitlyn. Well, she was the obvious choice. She was stronger  than the rest of us girls, and Joshua already had a weapon. Joshua nodded.

  " I'm taking the Bo staff then," said Taylor, as she reached for the Bo staff.

  " No you are not. You don't know how to use it. I do," I said sharply and grabbed the Bo staff.

 " You do not! " argued Taylor, who was scowling. I raised an eyebrow. She sighed, still pouting. I shook my head.

  " Okay," Joshua frowned, " lets hit the road.". And he walked out of the house. We followed, with me guarding the rear.

   When we hit the street, I heard a shout from above. I looked up and widen my eyes and in surprise. " Crap..... Joshua! Look up!"

Starting Day 1.1

   I shook my head, and then went to another rock pile and uncovered two car sheets. The sheets make the cars looks like rock piles or a giant pile of leaves from far or above. I threw them over the cars, careful not to disturb the ground around them. Then I made sure there were no tracks leading to this place. Didn't want those terrorists to find this place just yet.

  Then I walked into the rock pile and pushed the rock back into place.

 It was dark and musty like I expected. Next, I, by using my memory, walked over to our air vent rock. I pushed it slightly open. It also allowed some light to come in. Then I turned on our lights. They weren't that bright but they were good enough.

 I looked around. Our rock pile was very spacious. We had also bought a lot of stuff with money that we had earned from doing talks for our neighbors and families. Bean bags and all sorts of things were all over the place.

  " Make yourself at home. " I said. Then all the sudden, I had an urge to be alone. I'll be downstairs, but if you need anything, ask Joshua." And with that I ran down the dirt stairs into my room, ( yes, we had even dug our own rooms), and pushed the rock door into place. Then I collapsed into my beanbag and let all the tears out. I cried everything out and cried a little more. I don't know how long I cried. I don't even remember falling asleep. But from that moment, I knew my emotion wall had broke. The wall that I had put there to save myself embarrassment was now gone.

Starting Day 1.0

  " Umm.. Thanks for the save. I'm Lidoor." he said cautiously. I smiled. 

  " Cool. Names Emerald. Can call me Emy if you want. The stupid , crazy guy over there, " I grinned, pointing over to Joshua who was still getting out of the car," is Joshua. The blonde is Taylor, and the other is Kaitlyn.".

  Then I looked over Lidoor's shoulder and narrowed my eyes. " Well, hello Jason and Brittany.". Then I smiled. " Lauren!" I ran past Lidoor and hugged Lauren. " OMG, are you okay?"

 " Yeah, I'm fine. What is this place?"

  "Joshua's and my secret hideout when we were younger. It took days but it was well worth it." I answered.

  I walked over to the pile of rocks than rolled the door open. The door was just a flat rock. I stepped over to the side and bowed," Come right in!".

   They gaped and walked in. Joshua came last. He stopped by me. " Emerald. I...." he didn't finish

  I raised an eyebrow and I promoted him. " What?"

 " Umm.... Nothing. " and he quickly went in.

Starting Day 0.9

The other car had slowed down. And the girls in the back started to scream. That made me grin. You see, our secret exit is secret for a reason. It looks like a bunch of rocks with moss on them. The moss part is true, but the rocks? Not so much.

 As we passed through, the car behind us sped up again, because they had seen us pass through safely. And the girls had shut up, but now they were whimpering. I smile a bit bigger, but then gave up smiling. I started to worry about my parents. What was gonna happen to them. Were they going to be killed or what?

   Then I felt a hand on my hand. I looked over to my left and saw Joshua's hand on mine. He looked at me and smiled, then he turned his head back to the road and put his hand back onto the wheel. I just looked at him for a minute slightly confused, then decided that he just was comforting me. And besides, why would he like me. I'm younger than him, and not exactly a good choice. Someone like Kaitlyn or Taylor would be better for him. I shook my head. Why the heck would I be thinking that? I shook my head, again to clear it.

   Soon we had reached our hideout. This was a place we could stay for now. It was safe and only Joshua and I ever had known about it. It had a least twenty different escape routes. And it was both above ground, on the ground, and under the ground. Tree house, a pile of rocks and under the rocks. We stopped.

  I got out and stretched. The other kids in the other car got out slowly. They looked at us. Then one of them, a cute looking one came over to me. ( Sheesh. Give me a break! Gotta say the cute looking boy part of course!)

Starting Day 0.5

 I finally found what I was looking for. I grabbed my Bo staff, the gun case, and the baton, and carefully ran back downstairs.

By the time I was downstairs, the girls had packed some clothes, and Joshua had raided the kitchen. "Everyone to the living room!" shouted Joshua.

  There was 4 backpacks in the living room. I set down the weapons and grabbed a back pack and swung it on my shoulder.

  " Emerald, what did you find? " Joshua asked, partly curious.

  " A gun, a baton, and my Bo staff."

  " Mmm.... Anyone know how to use a gun?" asked Joshua. Nobody answered. He sighed. " I was hoping someone else would know.".  He grabbed the gun case and opened it up. Slowly, he loaded the gun and but the bullets in his back pockets.

Starting Day 0.4

That's what brought me back. "Ummmm... People? Don't cha think that if there's war going on outside then we should be getting the heck outta here?" I asked tentatively. They started at me as if I was stupid, ( I am not stupid!), Then snapped back to reality.  They all nodded.

  Then just stood there obviously still shocked.  ( The real shock was going to come much, much later.) Then Joshua put on a face I've only seen twice. I'll explain those two times later. But to summarize it, once he saved my life. The other time, when his dad died.

      " Emerald, this is your house. Find weapons that we can use. " he instructed. I nodded and ran to my parents room. My parents weren't home. They were like on a date or something. Never listened. Now, I kinda wished I did.

  I ran into their closet and started dumping stuff on the floor. I remember that my dad kept a gun here. I found the case and opened it up. It was in there all right. I shivered. I've hated things like guns. They scared me. But, I'm perfectly at home with bows and arrows, spears and swords, and bostaffs. Weird.

Starting Day 0.3

Back to the dreadful story.

 

     After a minute, there was another BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!! We all just sat there wondering and afraid of what it might be. After another 3 BOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!s, I was the only to have enough courage to check out what the heck could be happening. I got up and walked over to the widow. I pulled back the curtain. Then I swear, right then, I thought that I was hallucinating or in a coma. I shrieked and quickly backed up. I started to hyperventilate.

     Everybody stared at me for about a minute as I calmed down. Than Joshua got the courage to ask.

    " Emerald. What did you see?" he whispered, fearing the answer.

       " War." I squeaked.

   There wasn't a single sound. Other than more booms. Then, " Crap. " from Kaitlyn.

Starting Day 0.2

    Well, I think I should get some things straightened out, before I barge ahead.

           I'm Emerald, a rather boring girl. And kinda ugly. But I'm hilarious, caring, and very moody.  My mood is very quick to change. Very quick. And you should definitely get out of my way when I'm mad.

           Enough about me. Anyways there is also my two best friends, Taylor and Kaitlyn. Or is the right way to spell her name is Katelyn? She always used to change how she spelled her name. It was really funny to watch the teachers try to figure out who it was. A very awesome rebel kind of kid. Did only small things though. But it was enough to tick teachers off.

              Taylor was an entirely different kind of girl. She was a star student, always getting As.  Studious. Blah. Me? I was a mix. Yeah, I got all As. But I like making trouble. Never got a detention yet.  Probably never will, now.

            Joshua was just a friend of ours. A bit, ( okay, a lot,) on the weird side. He always managed to find a way to crack us up.

        Well, that's pretty much everybody that's here right now.

Starting Day 0.1

Emerald sang the words of one of her favorite songs ,Brokenhearted. "Anything you wanna do, I'll be on-".

" Emerald! Woulda shut up!? Trying to finish our homework!" Katelyn yelled at her.

"Okay, sheesh. Thought you came over to have fun." Emerald retorted.

" I did. We just wanna finish my homework first!" Grumbled Kaitlyn.

" Wow. Well you coulda told me first!" said Emerald. Then she turned to Taylor. She had been watching both of them fight. "Same goes for you.".

Then somebody burst in. " I'm Superman!!!!!!" cried Joshua. Emerald, Taylor, and Kaitlyn all looked at each other for a minute than started cracking up about how stupid he sounded. Joshua just shrugged, walked in and sat down by Emerald.

" So whatcha-" Joshua was interrupted by a big boom. Then the ground shook. A plate feel out of the china cabinet and crashed on the floor.

" What the heck was that?!?" exclaimed Emerald. Everybody just looked at each other.
